Introduction: Dr. Louis Stimmel - Kidney Transplant Coach
Anonymous Living Kidney Donor Recipient 11/1/23
As a Kidney Transplant Coach with firsthand experience and knowledge of successfully finding a Living Kidney Donor and dealing with the overwhelming stress, anxiety and uncertainty of navigating the difficult challenges and hurdles in my journey, I welcome the opportunity to mentor and guide you to help you find Potential Living Kidney Donors by using the same successful strategies and methodologies I developed and used as part of the Living Kidney Donor Search Program. so that you are not alone in your own journey.
Once I was accepted onto the Kidney Transplant List, I was told that the Kidney Waiting List for a Deceased Kidney Donor was 3-7 years on average and finding a Living Kidney Donor was my sole responsibility and not the Kidney Transplant Department. Without someone guiding or mentoring me, I spent several weeks researching and learning all about the various aspects of Kidney Transplant, the pros and cons of a Deceased Kidney Donor vs. a Living Kidney Donor, etc. and the difficult challenges in finding a Living Donor. The process of learning this information was time-consuming and overwhelming but I ultimately gained a firm understanding of the whole process and developed the Living Kidney Donor Search Program.
The Living Kidney Donor Search Program involves a uniquely designed informative personal website, personal video and a Kidney Campaign Business Card along with various strategic and effective marketing, advertising and social media strategies to help you Share Your Story to Find A Living Kidney Donor. The importance of a custom-designed personal website with a personal video is connecting with your viewers on an emotional and spiritual level to convey your need for a Living Kidney Donor and your WHY IN LIFE in how you would make a significant contribution to humanity, society and your community to compel them to be your Living Kidney Donor and give you The Gift of Life.
After my kidney transplant, I recognized the need to help mentor and guide other individuals soon getting onto or presently on a Kidney Transplant List dealing with the same overwhelming feelings of stress, anxiety and uncertainty that I had to deal with on my own to find a Living Kidney Donor. The Living Kidney Donor Search Program provides you with the same various strategies and methodologies that I used successfully to find a Living Donor along with one-on-one coaching so that you are not alone in trying to Find a Living Donor.
My Personal Story To Finding A Living Kidney Donor
My personal journey began in January 2021 when I learned that I was in end-stage renal failure after a routine blood test revealed my kidney function was less than 15% and needed to start dialysis as soon as possible. I was in complete shock and disbelief. I began dialysis in New Jersey in April 2021 on a schedule of 3x/week for 4 hours/session from 5-9am. As a chiropractic physician working full-time, I had to accept that my life was going to be forever different with many sacrifices and changes to both my personal and professional lifestyle.

The physical, emotional and psychological challenges of doing dialysis were extremely challenging on a daily basis. Several months after beginning dialysis, I was evaluated by the Kidney Transplant Team at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (Livingston, NJ) and was advised that various tests were needed in order to be considered for a kidney transplant. The testing process took about 14 months to complete before I was finally accepted onto the kidney Transplant List in November 2022. After launching my Kidney Search Campaign in January 2023, an Anonymous Living Kidney Donor came forward who was a perfect match on my behalf in May 2023 and I had my transplant in November 2023.
Benefits Of A Living Donor Kidney Transplant Compared To A Deceased Kidney Donor Transplant
The benefits and rewards of receiving a kidney transplant from a Living Donor are significant over a kidney transplant from a Deceased Donor. Here is a Summary for your review.
Summary:
- A kidney from a Living Donor has better outcomes with less chance of complications and rejection.
- A kidney from a Living Donor reduces a patient’s time on dialysis and possibly even eliminates the need for dialysis at all.
- A kidney from a Living Donor eliminates the long waiting list time of 3-7 years on average or even longer for a Deceased Kidney Donor.
- A kidney from a Living Donor begins to function immediately and eliminates the potential waiting time for a kidney from a Deceased Donor to “wake up” and function which can sometimes take days or weeks and and may require doing dialysis.
- A kidney from a Living Donor lasts longer (15-25 years) as compared to a Deceased Donor Kidney (8-15 years).
- Surgery for a Living Kidney Donor is scheduled at a mutually convenient time between Donor & Recipient rather than an unexpected phone call when you may not be available to get to the hospital in a timely manner for a Deceased Kidney Donor.
- A Living Kidney Donor avoids check-ups and updated testing every 12-18 months that might eliminate you from the Kidney Transplant Waiting List due to unforeseen and unexpected medical issues.
